عَنْ أُمِّ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ أُمِّ عَبْدِ اللهِ عَائِشَةَ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهَا قَالَتْ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ: «مَنْ أَحْدَثَ فِي أَمْرِنَا هَذَا مَا لَيْسَ مِنْهُ فَهُوَ رَدٌّ». وَفِي رِوَايَةٍ لِمُسْلِمٍ: «مَنْ عَمِلَ عَمَلًا لَيْسَ عَلَيْهِ أَمْرُنَا فَهُوَ رَدٌّ».

English Translation

On the authority of the Mother of the Believers, Umm ʻAbdillah ʻAʼishah (may Allah be pleased with her), who said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “Whoever introduces into this affair of ours something that is not part of it will have it rejected.” And in a narration of Muslim: “Whoever does an act which is not in accordance with our matter will have it rejected.”

Waxaa laga weriyay Hooyada Muʼminiinta, Umm ʻAbdillah ʻAaʼishah (Allaha raalli ka noqdo), inay tidhi: Rasuulka ﷺ wuxuu yidhi: “Qofkii ku soo kordhiya amarkeennan (diinteenna) wax aan ka mid ahayn, waa la diidayaa (waa la celinayaa).” Riwaayad Muslim: “Qofkii sameeya camal aan amarkeennu (diinteennu) saarnayn, waa la diidayaa.”
