On the authority of Ibn ʻAbbas (may Allah be pleased with them both), that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “Were people to be given according to their claims, men would claim the wealth and the lives of others. But the burden of proof is upon the claimant, and the oath is upon the one who denies.”

Waxaa laga weriyay Ibn ʻAbbaas (Allaha raalli ka noqdo labadoodaba), in Rasuulka ﷺ uu yidhi: “Haddii dadka la siiyo sheegashadooda, rag baa sheegan lahaa maalka dadka iyo dhiiggooda. Laakiin caddayntu waxay saaran tahay kan sheeganaya, dhaartuna waxay saaran tahay kan dafiraya (diidaya).”
