On the authority of Abu ʻAbd al-Rahman ʻAbdullah ibn ʻUmar ibn al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with them both), who said: I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: “Islam is built upon five: the testimony that there is no god but Allah and that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah, the establishment of the prayer, the giving of the zakat, the pilgrimage to the House, and the fast of Ramadan.”
